2. We ID - this sign is everywhere. Every bar and gas station in Gainesville. I found this particular one in the Kangaroo, but it is a common sign. I chose it because I recently turned 21 and it is still a great but new feeling to be able to show my ID.
3. Summer A/C Schedule- this is on the front of my binder and I look at it everyday when I get to class. It is my class schedule and has a lot of meaning. I chose it because it is controlling my life right now and something that predicts what I get to do everyday right now. I am taking 3 summer classes and they are kicking my butt.
4. University of Florida- this is on the podium in every one of my classes. But I noticed it for this in my personal health class. It has so much meaning behind it. I have waited to go to this school my whole life and when I sit in class and look at that sign it makes it so real. I am a student at UF and it feels amazing. It's like getting in all over again, I just love seeing that sign.
5. The Alligator- this is something I see mon-fri. I pick up the alligator and usually atleast flip through it until atleast the crossword. It is a part of my daily routine and the reason I picked it is simple...i see it all the time. The font that it is in would stand out to me anywhere and I think it is interesting.

Govinda_5 Words in the World
1.Speed Limit: I seem to always been in a hurry, running from one place to another so every time I am driving and see one of these signs in reminds me that I need to slow down and take a moment to just enjoy the ride.
2. Stop: These signs are rather irksome, just on my way to class I encounter more than five of them. The stop signs are present more frequently in suburban and rural areas, but there is one right by my house that always seems to always be ignored, especially by me.
3. Road Work Ahead: These signs are blaring reminders of how late you really are. They cause the traffic to inch along and everyone to crane their necks in the direction of the workers fixing the road. They are especially frequent when I go back home to Jacksonville.
4. No Right turn on Red: University of Florida is littered with these signs. At every stoplight you are forced to sit there and wait while the coast is clear. After hopping in my car as soon as class gets out I’m ready to speed to anywhere but here, but its usually more like a turtle race through the No Right Turn on Red signs.
5. No Parking: I believe that University of Florida is probably one of the worst college campuses for parking. Everywhere you look in capital letter is the words NO PARKING. Now you can always choose to ignore the words so clearly marked, and end up with a ticket, or a towed car, or most embarrassing off all, a tire boot.

Rebecca Lynch _ What I Consumed in a Day
For breakfast, I had a bowl of cheerios and almond milk. I had a banana for a morning snack. At lunch I ate an onion bagel with hummus and celery sticks with peanut butter. In the afternoon, I made myself and iced coffee and had an apple. My dinner was a salad full of spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, chickpeas, avocados, and some other veggies I cannot quite remember. I also drank at least 8 glasses of water during the day.I really enjoyed this assignment. A little more than a month ago I made the decision to switch from pescatarianism to eating vegan and I LOVE it. Because of this switch, I am now always aware of what I am eating and the ingredients in it. I liked drawing out this picture because it forced me to not only be aware of what I was eating, but to keep a running record of it as well. Yay healthy food!

2."Doughnuts" This is on the Krispy Kreme sign on 13th. I chose it because for a while now the sign is only half lit up, so it says "Doug". It never fails to make me laugh. If you're having a bad day, drive by.
3. "Salty Dog Saloon" (sign on University) I chose this because it makes me miss my cohort. A group of us used to go after class on fridays this past spring. I loved starting my weekend with a bunch of friends all laughing and being together. If you're 21 and up check it out, they really do have the best happy hour in Gainesville.
4. "No Right Turn On Red" (the corner of 13th & University) I hate this sign. I chose this because I understand we need to be safe drivers and be careful. However, it takes me forever to get onto 13th if it's the morning. This sign was chosen strictly on frustration.
5. "The Swamp" (in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium) For those who don't know it was Spurrier who coined the term "the swamp" in 1991. I chose it because this fall, that notorious phrase will have been around for 20 years. These past 20 years our football team has won game after game in The Swamp. How could any opponent NOT be afraid of "The Swamp?"
MarissaM_What I Consumed
For breakfast I had a bowl of Cheerios cereal with milk. For lunch I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, an orange and a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. I also had water to drink. I usually drink a lot of water during the day. I have water when I am in class and also during all of my meals. I had an iced coffee during the afternoon while I was studying and doing some reading for class. Next I went out to dinner with one of my friends at a barbeque place. I ordered a barbeque pulled pork sandwich with fried okra and onion rings. I had a diet coke with my meal. This was an interesting project because I do not always think of the different things I eat during the day but it makes you very aware of day in respect to calories you consumed and the quantity and quality of the food that you consume in one day. I think that this could be used in an elementary classroom for an activity for students because it could make them aware of the food they are consuming in one day. It could be used to accompany a lesson on healthy eating or on the food pyramid. I think that it was beneficial for both myself and my future classroom.

On Sunday mornings, I usually attend church. This past Sunday, I noted the different things I saw on my way to church from the moment I left my apartment door to the moment I entered the sanctuary. The exercise made me realize the details, special decorations or even just ordinary things I tend to glance over. It helped me realize the importance of noticing and truly being where I am. Thanks, Sara.

I did this activity on a day when I got to enjoy a treat that I never usually get to enjoy, cereal! I love to eat cereal, but I almost never get a chance to eat breakfast. This activity was really interesting. I do not usually take the time to think about how what I eat throughout a day looks. It was interesting to have to sit down and think “Ok, what did my sandwich look like?”. One of the things I definitely noticed was the lack of nutrition in my day, it was obviously a pretty unhealthy day!! I loved drawing using white on a black background. It was simple but at the same time I felt like the overall look of the final product looked professional. I am not a very precise drawer, so this activity was probably a little more difficult than it is for other people. I had to sit and think about how my pencil was going to draw on the dark paper. It was definitely fun though!
Kelsey_Colors and Shades
1. "How I Wish the Sky Always Looked Blue"- This reminds me of the color I used to draw the sky when I was little because it seemed like the perfect fit for a clear blue day.
3. "Ballerina Tutu Pink"- This color reminded me of my tutu I used to wear for ballet. It is that perfect light shade of pink that just reminds one of ballet slippers and dance recitals.
4. "Breakfast at Tiffany's"- This iconic color is one of my favorites and even without the logo found on it I would have guessed the brand that belongs to this color. I named one of my favorite colors after one of my favorite movies, and it just seemed appropriate.
5. "Don't Make Me Blush"- This color reminds me of a make-up artist's, probably for a play, attempt to show that a girl is blushing in an exaggerated way.
6. "Peach Princess"- This peach color was very feminie and elegant, which reminded me of something a princess would wear to a garden party.
7. "Forks, Washington"- This color reminds me of the city where the Twilight saga takes place. It is always gloomy and rainy in the movie and this color probably could have been used as a back drop to portray this.
9. "Sea World"- For some reason this color reminded me of Sea World. It seems like the color of the ocean in tropical areas that whales and dolphins and sea creatures would actually enjoy swimming in.
Anne H_Things I Consumed In One Day
This project was a great idea because it allows me to look back and see what I ate for the day. Obviously (based on these results), it would be wise of me to try and get some fruit each day.
I thought it was interesting to draw with a white pencil on dark paper. Usually we do the opposite by using a regular pencil on white paper. The pictures almost look like they were drawn on a blackboard using chalk.

Suzie S_Things Consumed in One Day

This is what I ate all day on Saturday:
Breakfast- A glass of milk and french toast :] (yummy!)
Lunch- A chicken quesadilla, watermelon, and a glass of water
Dinner- Pizza at California Pizza Kitchen
Dessert- A Cinnabon cinnamon roll
I really liked this project because it allowed me to track what I ate for the day and it gave me awareness of the choices I make pertaining to food every day.
Drawing everything in white was interesting because I have a tendency to want to draw these things in color (I actually had to start this project over because I ended up coloring the french toast...). Also, the further the day moved on, the less detailed my drawings became. By the end the food was almost 'cartoon' in appearance. None the less, it was a really interesting project. :)

Katie J_What I Consumed in a Day

Today I ate a Special K granola bar for breakfast, a few Pringles for lunch, and a bowl of my favorite Special K cereal for dinner, along with a bottle of water. I know that sounds like I didn't eat much, but because it was Saturday I ended up not eating my breakfast until about lunchtime, because that's when I woke up! So really my granola bar and the pringles were basically one meal. But this activity was very interesting to do, I liked having to look back and record everything that I had eaten in a day. It's a good way to keep myself accountable for the (unhealthy) food I eat. Also, having to draw each food item, espcially in white, was challenging because usually pictures of food are so filled with color. I realized that it is much harder for me to depict an item if I can't use color to help represent it.

Reflection:
My haiku and objects were from a trip to the beach with three little girls I babysit and their mom. I really enjoyed this activity because it allowed me to pay attention to the things that were around me and notice things I haven't before. I think this was a great project because it allows students to see important aspects of everyday life. I also really enjoyed writing the haiku poem because it allowed me to express the overall trip and experience.
