Katie J_Visual Things About A Journey

Hot, rain, windy, wet, humid, long, dirty, umbrella, people, empty, traffic, yellow car, white flowers, grass, dirt, sidewalk, gray clouds, gray ground, red stoplight, green stoplight, pink flowers, newly planted trees, dorms, students, schoolbooks, backpacks, fast bikes, hot pink scooter, sunglasses, tunnel, graffiti, drawings, puddles, rain boots, spray paint, concrete, yellow lines, litter, chicfila, bus stops, bus drivers, sunshine through the clouds, birds, squirrels, friends, dog, murals, room key, apartment, lunch

Walking very fast,
Hoping to beat the cold rain,
Run to catch the bus.

These words describe my journey from Norman to my apartment, including the bus ride home. I make this trip so many times that I usually don’t even notice my surroundings, so today was a nice change of pace. It was nice to intentionally look around and take everything in! It had been a long time since I noticed the beauty in a rainy day. My haiku is about the most stressful part of my journey: trying my hardest to beat the rain and make it to the bus on time, which was especially difficult today! But as I was hurrying, I was still able to appreciate my surroundings and the fact that there is beauty and art, even among the stress.
